The cat’s out of the bag…we’re headed to Nashville

So I got some important news to share and kind of let the cat out of bag here, but as I posted a couple of weeks ago I had to go to Nashville for some meetings and I can now share the news. I have signed a production deal with producer and musician Mark Burch (Billy Currington among others) to produce our new album. I feel he’s a great fit as he not only has his finger on the pulse of today’s country music from a producers standpoint, he also is an incredible musician as incuding being an independent producer, he also tours and plays keys with Billy Currington. I’m very excited to work with a fellow musician and amazing producer on FINALLY getting the next album together. Me and some of the boys will be heading down to Nashville next week to get it all rolling and start laying down some tracks at the world famous Castle Recording Studio in Frankin. We still have a ways to go to get where we would like to be, but I’d like thank a few people who have helped the last few years in at least helping us get to this next HUGE step. Special thanks to Morgan Alexander, Brian Chester White, Kenny Ace Bott, Kevin Sharpe at Metro 37 studios, Sean Tabler (The Coop Show) and everyone at WYCD, Alex Handy, Jaimie Ward, Kyra Hellam from 95.9, Michael Raffin, Greg Stryker, everyone that played on the demos, Ed, Craig and Russ from the Nashville crew and most of all friends, fans, and families of the band that keep coming out to our shows…your support means the most to all of us and we are sure to give it hell! (If I forgot someone I’m sorry…lol.) So to all of our Nashville friends, see ya next week and I will post some blogs and take some pics of the process to keep everyone updated!!!!!!

A Note From Dave…

So much has happened since the New Year I thought I wanted to share with everyone whats happening in the world of the David Shelby Band.  First off, the summer concert schedule is filling up nicely.  We are starting to branch out more and our travel schedule is starting to get busy so please check back frequently to the tour page of the website for cities near you that you could come on out and party with us.  We had our first taste of the new travel schedule recently with a two night concert series up in Alpena, Michigan.  All I can say is the people that put on the event at the Aplex as well as the new friends and fans we met up north are incredible.  Everyone was so nice and despite the worst snow fall of the winter we had an incredible turnout.  The Aplex was rockin’ and everyone had a great time both nights.  The highlight being that two local charities benefited greatly from the generosity of the fine residents of Alpena.  The Thunder Bay Art Council as well as the local Junior Achievement Board were each presented a check by myself during the intermission to help with their great causes.  Overall the whole trip was a complete success and we feel like me met friends and fans for life.

Another major development is that after a long and hard process of setting things up…..THE NEW ALBUM IS FINALLY BEING FINISHED…wooooohooooo.  We have reduced our live schedule for about a month or so and I am heading down to Nashville shortly to start putting the finishing touches on our new album and I promise that it will be released this spring in time for our summer concert schedule.  I am very proud of this whole project as both cities….Detroit and Nashville both have their influences on it.  So far in playing some demos for executivies they were most excited in the fact that it sounds like we have captured a blend of the D meets the Music City in a new a fresh way.  I can’t wait for ya’ll to hear it and I am hoping this is the album that puts us over the top.  We absolutely do appreciate all of the support and love from the fans that we have gotten through the years and I am fully confident that once the album comes out and with your help we will knock it out of the park with this one.  There are so many faces and people that I see at every show and I just want to say again how much I do appreciate every one of you.  So wether you haven’t seen us in a while….or your there for every show….you can look forward to a new stage show this spring with new tunes, a renewed energy and as always and perhaps most importantly…..a good time!!!!!  I will see ya’ll real soon at a gig near you, and one more thing, this year for the 99.5 hoedown the bands are being chosen by fan vote so if you get a minute or two (or several hundred…haha) during the day please pop over to 99.5’s website and vote for us to rock Downtown Detroit for the 5th consecutive year!  I hope everyone stays healthy and happy……
