We just had our first opportunity to showcase and exhibit at the “2011 Michigan Festivals & Events Association” convention this past weekend and an incredible time was had by all. Special thanks go out to Sharon Muczinski, Jaimie Ward, and Samantha Muczinski for representing the band in the most professional manner. We met so many people from around the state who put on all of the various local fairs and festivals. One thing that struck me most is how much all of these officials care about their local communities and how hard they work to put on these events for the residents in their cities and townships. In a word, it was heartwarming and really makes you appreciate the work that goes into these events. Many of these people are volunteers for their communities and do an excellent job putting these events together. Of course, come to find out….they also like to have a good time doing what they do 
The highlight of the weekend was when we got to perform in a showcase to a standing room only crowd on Saturday night. I was proud of Clint, Bernie, Steve, Brian, Nick and Mike as we threw down our flavor of music and rocked the crowd “country style”. We already have several confirmed bookings for 2012 which will be posted as soon as the t’s are crossed and the i’s are dotted, but look for us to be coming to a community event in your neck of the woods throughout Michigan. On that note, even if we are not booked at your community event, be sure to go out next summer and support your local fairs and festivals…not only is it good for the soul to support and become involved in your own backyard, but based on what I saw this weekend, you’re in for a “good time”!

David and Samantha in The Music Man (Sept 22, 2011)
David and his wife, Samantha, had the pleasure of doing a cameo appearance in a production of The Music Man. They had a blast with the cast and crew of the Grosse Pointe Theatre.
A note from David “Had a blast last night doing the cameo in Grosse Point Theatre’s production of the music man! Everyone was so nice and the production is awesome so if you have a chance to go see it you will be EXTREMELY impressed. Thanks to Larry Garcia, Lindsey Briggs, Grosse Point Theatre, cast, crew, and orchestra for a memorable night!”
The Music Man runs now through Sunday. Thursday, Friday and Saturday curtains open at 8pm, Sunday starts at 2pm. Come out and see a great production of an American classic. You never know who’s going to show up.

Welcome to the blog section of the David Shelby NEW website. It’s very exciting for me to have a lot going on and periodically I will be personally posting some blogs about numerous topics. This summer has been the busiest on record for me. On top of shows there is much more behind the scenes that is happening that is truly exciting. Among the highlights of the summer thus far have been a live on air performance on “The Coop Show” as part of his Thursday Night Live Series where they had a world premier of my new single Cowgirls. I was especially proud of the fact that Coop told me it was the biggest turnout they ever had. We managed to cram over 50 people into the studio and we did an acoustic performance in studio as well has mingled, signed autographs, and enjoyed some good grub with fans. Mad props goes out to Coop and 99.5 WYCD for the invite as well as the support. I hope in the near future we can jam the phone lines with requests once the new album is in the box as they say.
Another big project going on is I was invited to be on a TV reality show called Not So Stable being filmed at a horse farm here in Michigan. Needless to say, no one is oblivious to what the economic downturn has done to many families during these hard times. With Michigan being especially hit hard with the auto industry and mortgage collapse many people have suffered. The show is about one of these families. The father used to have a successful construction company and with the housing crisis he and his family lost almost everything including their home which unfortunately went into foreclosure. Faced with the reality of soon being homeless. They turned to the only investment and means of income they had to try and survive, a horse farm that was mainly used as a hobby farm and a second means of income for them. The father is now turning an outbuilding on the farm into a house for his family and they now run the farms day to day operation. The show basically follows them and their struggles to get back on their feet. Being a horse guy myself, they invited me out for a little riding and I even did a couple of tunes for the people at the barn and they threw an awesome bbq party for the day. Everyone at the barn treated me so well and were too kind. It was touching to find out first hand what they were going through and one song I did called “Prayer of the Broken” kind of parallels what they were going through and things got very emotional in the barn when I did an acoustic version of it. I was honored when the producer asked for the full recorded version for possible use in the show. They even came out and filmed last Friday night to our show at Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and it was a blast just getting to hang out and enjoy the night with the cast from the barn. It was a great to meet the family as well as the other boarders at the barn and I truly feel like I made some friends for life. The father is absolutely an inspiration and is the type of guy you want to load a cooler on the back of your horse, head down a trail, and spend a great day drinking some beers and telling some good stories with. I really look forward to staying involved as much as they will have me and I will keep you posted on when everything will air. The spirit of American’s was showcased at the Stars and Stripes Festival on July 2nd. Torrential rains, lightning, risk of tornadoes didn’t keep the people way from checking out Stars and Stripes, one of the best festivals in the Mt. Clemens, MI area.
The skies parted and the sun peeked out just a little bit as David and the guys prepared to take the stage. Then the sky turned an eerie shade of green / yellow and the lightning started out of the north, but nothing would stop the show. Battling the fish flies, the guys rocked the xfinity stage at the corner of Cass and Main.

“Thursday Night Live”, a weekly event put on by 99.5 WYCD has become quite a popular event in the area. the premiere country Radio station in Detroit, invites their listeners to come down every Thursday evening, and sit in at the studio with everyone’s favorite evening DJ, Coop. Attendees are welcomes with free food, drinks and a chance to hear a live acoustic performance by some of Michigan’s best up and coming country talent. David, Steve, Brian and Nick were honored to be asked to come down and perform on June 30th.
Over 50 people showed up at WYCD studios for the evening. The studio, being rather small, was jammed full of eager listeners waiting to hear what David and the boys had to offer. Some of the attendees were familiar faces at many of David’s shows around the Detroit area, but many were new to his music.
Shelby commented after the show, “Coop said its the most people they ever had. Way to go David Shelby fans! Y’all are the best! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!”
The evening not only introduced people to David’s down home Southern Rock sound, but also gave attendees a look at how the inside of WYCD works, what you don’t “see”. In addition to the music, WYCD gave away some fantastic prizes ranging from WYCD gift bags, lottery tickets, Tiger tickets and the ultimate concert lovers prices pack with tickets to three different area concerts. David gave away T-Shirts and everyone left with a signed copy of “I Came To Play”, David’s debut CD.
David made his radio debut with his new single, “Cowgirls”, which was hot off the press having picked the finished product up at the studio that afternoon. The guys were beyond flattered by all the positive feedback they received from those in the studio, emails and Facebook messages.
